It depends on where you put it. If you placed it in front of the town hall where Gracie parks, then when she comes to visit there will be a problem. If it is out of the way in a place where no animal could move in, where nothing Nintendo would put in, you're safer. But I'm not sure what you can do now. Chibipluto will probably get on and explain better. I do know that there is a big problem whenever you place anything where Nintendo will, i.e., the car drives up for a new resident, Redd's tent, a building that blocks anything or placed in front of another. Some things are cool, but really not worth it. I've seen towns that might look cool, but they are nothing like the game was meant to look like. Eventually, there is going to be a problem. Again, Chibipluto would answer this better, but just thinking about it, how much can a system stand being "changed" and still hold together? I'm sure you read where I had to destroy my town and create a new one. I had AR and that messed things up. Sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it does. I took a change and lost.

I think that should be okay. But if you are creating another person, it shouldn't be near the mailbox where Nook comes over to talk to them. But remember, ACC still does not permit talking about or exchanging of seeds. There is still the possibility of them messing up your town. But the most dangerous is planting them where a visitor or animal or anything Nintendo does would need to go there.

I decided to research a bit in the friend code area, too. and I noticed how some people rated badly because the person was a 'no0b', badly dressed, or hadn't actually wi-fied with them. This really bothers me, because their behaviour had nothing to do with it.
Signature-------------- If you remember me, you get a cookie.~ My favorite animals are sheep, ducks, and flamingos... <3
That bothers me too, AprilChikatow. It has happened to my son because he Wi-Fi's a lot. He had done nothing wrong but his bad ratings are retaliation and one he hadn't even visited who said he hadn't helped!
The system is the best there is. It would be nice if everyone were honest, but they aren't. But a person will look at the whole picture--he's got, I think, about 100 excellent and 3 not. If you are having a problem and someone doesn't want to come visit you because of that and you really want to visit with them, let them come to yours and see you are nice. PT them and get to know them. Again, my son has had long conversations with many of the people and ratings were changed as misunderstandings or hurt feelings, etc., were cleared up.
ACC can't monitor what goes on outside of the site, and this system is the best we have. Again, relationships, forgiving, talking things through, etc., is the best way to make sure there are "honest" ratings.

i have a question. Say you open you're gates, got your wifi on, and stuff, and yo are waiting for a friend. This is the only person with you're friend code. is there a chance someone can still coem in?
Signature-------------- http://dragcave.net/user/Chochomonkey ^ 3 visitors so far. pt when u visit!
That's correct. No one else can come in. But you might not want to leave it on all night. I had a friend who did and his friend was on his list and he just came over and had a good time by himself. He didn't hurt anything, but my friend was asleep, with an open gate.
If you have lots of people on your list and open your gate for one person who invited over, you might get everyone over. Better make some cookies!

Oh, it's not selfish. It is so much fun. It takes the game to a whole different level. It is REALLY relating to people, not just talking to animals, although even the animals on AC:WW are more personal and "human-like" than AC:GC.
But, enjoy the perks. All my experiences have been positive and everyone seems to like to give everyone something. My son comes over and shows off his shark! Well, I can't beat that. I caught a Dace!

you fogot to mention not all ar users (a.k.a hackers) are bad!! i use ar but i like to help people, like hacking items or sometimes seeds (like trees ect) im part of H.W.H.N.D ( hackers who help not destroy)
Signature-------------- fav stuff - wii, ds, ar ds, laptop and tv i do NOT accept random fcr's!!!!!!!!
No tommyTEEhinds, go back to the beginning and read the many posts. Chibiplute and I don't think that they are bad. My son was a hacker until our AR broke and it did it for the same reason you did, just to help people. He loved giving things away. And some of the best people here are hackers and helped pay off my mortgage. I like that H.W.H.N.D. And though we aren't supposed to talk about seeds, I have trees. You need to be careful where you put them is all, and I don't think a whole lot of changes to what Nintendo intended. At least I think that is what messed up one of my towns and I had to destroy it. Too many "changes." But a balance is good. It is so tempting to totally change your town, and damage might not happen. But it might.
But please, read the other posts -- not all hackers are bad, just as not all nonhackers are bad. Whether with seeds, an ax, or stealing, people can by, well, troublemakers. But other people can have the same things and not be. It really has to do with the character of the people. That's why it is so important to KNOW who you let in your town. Take the time to know them. Relationship.

I'm glad you didn't tell people to get an AR to fix their town, because that is actually NOT a safe thing to do.
A great guide, even though I know all of these already, this will really help new AC: WW players to realise that the AC: WW can be a dangerous place (thanks to the totally evil Datel ).

Hi Sneaky_Pikachu. No, AR got me. I know it works fine for some people, but it didn't for me. I learned something from the experience, though. Nintendo made AC:WW to be a certain way. Messing with that might not be harmful, but it certainly might be. I am not taking any more chances. I made a new town and it is nice to be able to go upstairs (the AR blacked out and didn't let me and I always got Resetti) and to know that the animals I talk to are normal (except someone made Bill a girl and I got him/her).
Who is the totally evil Datel?

Sorry that I seem to go on about things, it's just that I find out about things and begin to hate them. Well, I suppose you can't blame it on one company. It's a shame that people even think about wanting to destroy peoples' towns. About ratings, even people with lots of positive ratings can turn out to be bad. I like to look at the ratings they give, too, and how they seem to act around ACC. Even after that I like to follow them around my town, or visit their town first.

Gee, I know how you feel. It is sad. I think you are doing the wise thing by visiting their town first and if they are at your town, staying with them. So many different things need to be done, ratings, PTing the person to get to know them, checking the threads they were on and see how their attitude is, and like you said, how they act around ACC. But nothing is a guarantee--it's the best we can do though.
I am very, very thankful for the many giveaways and services that are available for people to help rebuild their towns if something happens. And I am going to say this, that the people who were the nicest to me and helped me out had AR. Most hackers, at least the ones my son and I have come in contact with, use what they have to help people, not hurt them. As I said earlier, their are good hackers, their are bad hackers, AR works on some systems fine, and does damage on others. You can't put it in a box.
No, I guess you can't blame it on the company. It's a choice people make. The product is there and selling because people want it. I know that when we bought ours and it wasn't working, the video guy said that over half the people who buy it return it because it doesn't work. Ours did not work on the computer (you get a CD for extra codes) and the little cartridge to insert in the DS worked OK for some things and not OK for others.
Live and learn, hopefully. Again, I understand your feelings. But I think everyone has a right to make the choice, with all the facts presented, and that we should respect that choice. I had a friend who told me to be careful, he heard AR can ruin your DS. When I told him it had messed up my town and I had to make another, he never said I told you so. He just said, you can rebuild what you had before. It was that kind of support and nonjudgmental attitude that makes him a special friend, and most of the people on this site that I have met are like that.
We do all play the game differently and for different reasons. I live in an apartment. When my neighbor smokes it comes through the walls and we get a house full of second-hand smoke. That makes me mad. It makes me sad he smokes because I know the damage it does to him, but it makes me mad that he has "destroyed" my place of safety.
I guess it's like that with our towns. If my neighbor chooses to smoke, it is his choice and his consequences. It would be nice if it were that way with people who destroy towns. If they choose to do it, let them do it to their own town. Sadly, neither of those scenarios will take place.
To make friends, enjoy the fun that happens with you visit or have visitors, we take chances. We just try to make the wisest choice we can.

explosivemat007, I understand your wanting to know more about seeds, but it is against ACC rules to talk about them. If you look at some of the past posts, you can get a little information. I will stay that the bigger the result of the seed (museum, house, Nook's, etc.) the more damage that can result. If it is placed where a visitor comes (Gracie, Crazy Redd, or where the car drives up, in front of your gate or store) the game is destroyed because there will be a collision with you and Nintendo. If someone is at your town, keep your sound up because you can hear the "plop" of it and ask you to save, do not do it. Go into a building and come out and check thoroughly around the town to see if anything has been added. Shut off the power if someone takes something or starts to cut trees. Hope that is enough info for you.

Neat my town has rules too. U know some jerk came to my town, stole hybrids without asking and destroyed my rainbow of hybrids and the thousands of flowers around my town?! Yeah it sucked. They knew I was a hacker and probaly though "Well since she can just hack it back i'll just go ahead and make her mad". Of course I can get them back but it doesn't exactly take 2 seconds and it still makes me mad that people can do that.
DataWizard, I think he meant that in his town where he lives it's against the law, the AC:WW town he made.
Well, you certainly know your stuff. Only I don't know what most of your words mean. I am a rather simple person. I think most of us here don't use the definitions you have made (though I'm not saying you are wrong). We just say hacker for people who have the regular AR and don't do seeds and Hacker for people who have the Duo that does do seeds. The first is okay for the site, the second is against ACC rules.
I guess we'll just have to stick to our "terms" as we know them, but I appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us. Boy, I bet you could fix my computer when it does strange things.

Well it's just that when people here the word "Hacker" they auto matically think bad. So that is one of many things that cause so many people to hate hackers so much. But you may can them what ever you wish.
I understand DataWizard, and your right. Hackers has gotten a bum rap. Personally, I like them, my son was one until the AR broke, and he did it just to give things away, and all the people I have known have been generous, kind, and wonderful.
So, for everyone who reads this -- all "Hackers" are not bad, anymore than all "non-Hackers" are all good. People are different and they do things with different motives. I don't mind if I saw this a million times, get to know the people you invite over. Know them well. Just as you wouldn't open your door and allow a stranger into your house, don't do that to your town. Take time. Form relationships.
And whether they are a hacker or not isn't the issue. The issue is their character and how they treat others.
